Halvorsen Aviation Education Center
The Candy Bomber, Gail S. Halvorsen (October 10, 1920 – February 16, 2022) brought candy, comfort, and hope to deprived German children as “Uncle Wiggly Wings” during the 1948-1949 Berlin Airlift. One man demonstrated that a small act of kindness can change the world. He continued throughout his life to be a light to all who met him or who were impacted by his example.
We’ve worked with the Halvorsen foundation for years to put together a remarkable building that will provide educational opportunities to learn about Gail Halvorsen and aviation. It will be a home base for the civil air control in the Spanish Fork area, and a museum that will showcase the legacy of Gail Halverson, celebrates him, honors the spirit of service, and will serve the community for years to come.
